Need plans for this Saturday?

Answer me this:
Do you like cool people?
Do you find feminist zine art pretty nifty?
Do you like the idea of possibly getting to eat some of the stuff I post pics of?
And finally, can you get to Brooklyn?

I’m supporting my girl Midge at the NYC Feminist Zinefest this weekend, and would love to see you there!
I’m also applying to possibly get some tumblr swag, so we’ll see how that goes.
Either way, I’ll still be there so you should totally come say hi if you can!

Where to Eat Wednesday: Billy’s Bakery, NYC

For 4 years I lived in Manhattan: Chelsea to be exact. I went to school there.
Fact: I hated college almost entirely. If anyone asks me, to this day I say I liked high school better.
But.
If there was anything that saved my college experience: It was Billy’s Bakery, Chelsea location at 21st and 9th.

Where to Eat Wednesday: Rice to Riches NYC

Welcome to the first edition of What to Eat Wednesday!
This will be the first post to the portion of my blog where I share with you places I’ve eaten and loved, and think you might love too. (:
Our first stop is Spring St. in Soho, and the place is called Rice to Riches. It’s a designer dessert shop specializing in rice pudding. Designer dessert - what do you mean?

Aaah!

I’m sorry I haven’t posted in forever! Here’s what’s up:

  • Otakon was fun - I sold some stickers/prints and gave out plenty of business cards. Hi to anyone that might be checking me out from there!! (:
  • Yesterday was a city day. Anyone ever been to blockheads in NYC? Really great margaritas, and that quesadilla was pretty ballin’.
  • Today was also a city day - Frightened Rabbit//Death Cab for Cutie concert in Williamsburg, BK. Awesome awesome show, the music was chill and the view across the river to Manhattan was gorgeous. Good vibes all around. Then I went back to Saint Alp’s Teahouse on our way out of Williamsburg. Love me some bubble tea from there. At any rate, DCFC’s best songs of the night were Soul Meets Body and New Year, as well as Title and Registration. Closed with Transatlanticism, which was great too. Frightened Rabbit was really great - scottish band coming all the way here to tour with DCFC, I’m def going to invest in some of their music.
  • Tomorrow, I start my new job! I’m really excited and I’m hoping for the best - and better than my last “Full time” gig.
  • My etsy page is almost ready to go - waiting for some funds to kick into my paypal acct and there will be stickers to be had by all! (: stay tuned!!

And last but not least, the baking part.
I will be baking some goodies for my “couch warming” party this Sunday. I don’t know how many people are gonna come, but hopefully a lot so I have an excuse to make two different things. What should I make?! I’m thinking I might try those rainbow cupcakes finally. Need to find a white cake recipe, I don’t want to buy a store bought cake.

How was everyone’s weekend?

bakedownthewalls:

after 7 months of working and 12 hours of hanging, the show is finally up. sva kids should check it out asap and if you’re not busy friday night, please come to the reception - feel free to introduce yourself if we havent met!
(please refrain from throwing out my promo cards, drawing mustaches on my face/wrecking my prints while you take a nap or writing hateful things in my guestbook as these are the biggest fears i have regarding this show.)

Hey followers!!If any of you happen to be in NYC on Friday night, I’m going to this show. You should all totally go too, because this girl is pretty pro. Maybe if you follow her blog she’ll post more too (cause she has really pretty stuff and I want to see more of it, hint hint!)
But back to me -flitters eyelashes-I’ll be baking on Thursday night, though I haven’t decided what yet. They will be cupcakes, and they will have little clovers on them! And I will be kissed cause I’m Irish!
Leave me a comment if you made/ate pie on pi day, and if you’ve got awesome plans for St Patty’s Day - or even if you’ll make an appearance at this show!

Review: Milkshakes (props to prettyfoods, she posts awesome stuff all the time!)
I love a good milkshake. I love it when the whipped cream and cherry sit right on top and look perfect just like that, and it’s like having two desserts in one because you can eat the whipped cream separately with your straw or a spoon. I love the creamyness and the perfect thickness that the mixture of ice cream and milk gives you, and that little kick of flavor. I love that the meal pictured here is perfect in every way.
My favorite milkshake that I’ve ever had was at a Silver Diner in Virginia beach earlier this summer, which I had alongside my breakfast. It was quite perfect for the time being. Typically, I’m a chocolate ice cream person, but in this case, vanilla was divine.
I will also highly recommend Shake Shack (for obvious reasons), but only if you’re willing to wait on that crazy line. Also, if you’re in New York City, The Diner (14th and 9th ave) has fantastic shakes.
Gosh, I sure could go for a milkshake.
